Over the ages, human society has progressed by leaps and bounds. In the early days of humanity, humans were just as primitive as other animal counterparts. Early humans lacked the intelligence and capability of their modern-day descendants. Their ability to think and the reason was limited at best and barbaric at worst.
However, with the passage of time, our species has developed too far greater extents than imaginable. People today enjoy all manner of creature comforts and luxuries which would be unimaginable even just a few decades back. The most striking example that exemplifies this progress is the development of technology. No other industry has developed faster than the tech industry. The proliferation of smart devices in the modern age has lowered the bar to knowledge and education by a significant margin. People today have access to information and technology which would have been impossible or extremely difficult to procure before the advent of the internet.
All these developments and many others have made life today much better than it has been in the past. Even the poorest of the poor have a much better quality of life than ever before. However, despite all the progress, there are still many problems which are left to tackle in the modern era. One of the most notable problems of these is the issue of world hunger. Even though the problem of hunger has been more or less eradicated from the Western world, in several other parts of the world such as in Asia and Africa, it is still quite a prevalent issue.
Unfortunately, many people are unaware of the world’s problems. They are simply caught up in their own little bubble in the developed world and are unaware of the hardship and tragedy of those less fortunate enough to born into poorer parts of the world. Thus, it is imperative that these people be made aware of the social problems in the world so that they can be cognizant of the responsibility that they have to the other people on this planet.
One of the best ways to accomplish this is by using the internet to reach millions of people. Through social media, one can create awareness online. Social media gives users the ability to reach out to millions all over the world. It grants users a stage and an audience on a scale that has never been seen before. Effective use of social media can rally thousands of voices behind a common cause.
Thus, it must be asked, in what ways can social media be used to raise awareness. While one can do obvious things like post photos and create cover photos to boost coverage, it is concerted personal efforts which bring real traction to an issue. In other words, to make sure that a social problem stands out, it must resonate with the public at large. People need to feel personally connected to a cause so that they take action. The best way to reach the greatest audience is through word of mouth.
